#Showbiz: Janna Nick's controversial wish service is done for charity

KUALA LUMPUR: Recently hurled with criticism for offering a paid wishing service that cost RM50 per wish, actress and TV host Janna Nick now gets the thumbs up when it is revealed that the proceeds from the earnings will be channelled towards charity.

The 23-year-old artiste who managed to collect RM2,000 within two days after her paid wishing service was introduced, said that her effort was in aid of Wish For Their Hope (WFTH), a non-governmental organisation, which will then distribute the funds collected to various charity homes, including the homeless and the orphans.

“The idea to materialise WFTH and #wishservicebyjannanick was initiated about four months ago. I’m thankful that the service has managed to collect a substantial amount to help ease the burden of those in need,” she said when met at Rumah Kasih Nurul Hasanah to hand over the donation.

“Prior to this, I have shared a status on Instagram, wanting to help those in need but the response I got was not very encouraging.

“So I figured a mechanism to get people to chip in, hence the wish service. This way, I get to kill two birds with one stone — send out birthday wishes and do my bit for charity,” she said.

“If this initiative can inspire other celebrities to help those in need, it would be great. I also understand that some have been using this wish service idea to generate a side income. That’s fine by me, too,” she added.
