'Paskal the Movie' collections donated to dead firefighters' families

SHAH ALAM: The production team of ‘Paskal The Movie’ today donated RM30,000 to the families of the Water Rescue Unit (PPDA) of the Fire and Rescue Department (JPBM) who died while trying to rescue a youth who fell into a mining pool in Taman Putra Perdana, Puchong on Oct 3.

Group managing director of Multimedia Entertainment Sdn Bhd Datuk Steven Lim handed the donations to Selangor JBPM director Azmi Osman in a simple ceremony at the Selangor JBPM headquarters here.

Also present were director of the film Adrian Teh as well as actors Hairul Azreen, Theeban G, Jasmine Suraya Chin, and Ammar Alfian.

In his speech, Lim said the donation would hopefully help lighten the burden of the families of the firefighters.

“The donation is our way of showing our appreciation for these unsung heroes who lost their lives in the line of duty,” he said.

Also present at the event were members of the Malaysian Climbers Club and the Mountain Rescuers Association who donated RM2,000.

Meanwhile, Azmi said he was grateful for the support from all parties over the recent tragedy.

“We really appreciate this support, it has encouraged the firefighters, especially the Water Rescue Unit (PPDA) in carrying out their duties as rescuers,” he said.

In the incident at 9.15 p.m, six PPDA members – Mohd Fatah Hashim, 34, Izatul Akma Wan Ibrahim, 32, Mazlan Omarbaki, 25, Yahya Ali, 24, Adnan Othman, 33, and Muhammad Hifdzul Malik Shaari, 25 – lost their lives. --Bernama
