#Showbiz: BTS' RM breaks Billboard record for 'Mono'

KUALA LUMPUR: K-Pop juggernaut BTS has been dominating the globe and breaking records with its brand of infectious music.

Now it’s leader, RM, has also followed suit in creating a milestone for his own musical material.

According to Soompi, his recently-released playlist, Mono, made a record-breaking debut on Billboard’s Top 200 Albums charts.

Billboard announced yesterday that RM’s individual release had debuted at No. 26 on the famous chart, which made it the highest ranking spot a Korean solo artiste had achieved so far.

Nielsen Music had reported that RM also managed the impressive feat in less than three days.

After dropping on Oct 23, Mono moved the equivalent of 21,000 album units, with 16,000 being from traditional album sales, for the week ending Oct 25.

The previous record for the highest-charting Korean solo artiste was held by RM’s fellow BTS member J-Hope who managed a No. 38 spot on the chart with his mixtape, Hope World, earlier this year.
