#Showbiz: Afgan summarises his decade-long musical journey with a concert

KUALA LUMPUR: Popular Indonesian singer Afgansyah Reza a.k.a. Afgan performed to a packed Plenary Hall at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre here last night.

As luck would have it, Kuala Lumpur became the first venue for the concert tour instead of Jakarta, to mark his 10th anniversary in showbiz.

Titled “Konsert DEKADE Live in Kuala Lumpur 2018”, the intimate evening brought audiences on a musical journey beginning from his debut album Confession No. 1 to his latest, DEKADE.

“This concert is going to be very personal... my way of saying thank you to all my fans. I’m going to share my deepest thoughts and feelings... something that I’ve never done before,” he said addressing the audience at the start of his sold-out concert.

The 180-minute showcase had the 29-year-old dimpled singer-songwriter perform about 26 songs including medleys of his popular tunes such as Jodoh Pasti Bertemu, Panah Asmara, Bukan Cinta Biasa, Pesan Cinta, Knock Me Out, X, as well as Sudah, taken from his new album.

And the icing on the cake came in the form of popular 1990s pop and R&B outfit, Ruffedge.

Together with Afgan, the six-member group who looked dapper in their dark suits, performed a medley of English songs and its hit tune Bila Rindu.

Afgan’s concert received the royal nod with the presence of Tengku Permaisuri Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin.

Also in the audience were Indonesian actress Laudya Cynthia Bella, and Malaysian celebrities — Nur Fazura Sharifuddin and Kayda Aziz.
