#Showbiz: Nam Ron delighted 'One Two Jaga' gets on Netflix

KUALA LUMPUR: Actor and director Shahili Abdan a.k.a. Nam Ron is thrilled that his film about corrupt policemen, One Two Jaga is still going places despite not doing well in cinemas.

Since Dec 1, the movie has joined video streaming giant Netflix, thus enabling subscribers around the world to view the gritty, star-studded film which features Malaysian and Indonesian actors.

“Our production team recently met up with Netflix representatives and they were very impressed with One Two Jaga. It’s great news that they have decided to make it a Netflix Original Movie,” he said in a news report today.

“As a Netflix Original, One Two Jaga can now be viewed by fans in the US, many of whom have given it positive feedback.”

Nam Ron also said that One Two Jaga had been honoured by Communications and Multimedia Minister Gobind Singh Deo, alongside nine other local films for their success at international film festivals.

The other films included Redha, Adiwiraku and Interchange.

“It’s an honour that Gobind has recognised our film. This will motivate us to come up with more cinematic gems in the near future, come rain or shine,” said Nam Ron who is currently working on a new film Masterpicisan which will be screened next year.

One Two Jaga focuses on a courageous police officer Hussein (Zahiril Adzim) who exposes his corrupt superiors.

It is also about Indonesian workers who face a lot of hardship as a result of bribe-taking by the authorities.

The film also stars Bront Palarae, Chew Kin Wah, Amerul Affendi and Indonesian actors Ario Bayu and Asmara Abigail.

It was nominated for Best Feature Film at the 17th Asian Film Festival in New York (NYAFF) on June 29.

Last April, the film was screened at the 20th Far East Film Festival in Udine, Italy.
