#Showbiz: US top country and Jakarta top city for most BTS YouTube views in 2018

KUALA LUMPUR: K-Pop sensation BTS has been raking up crazy amounts of views on YouTube from around the world.

Interestingly, the top country with the most number of views is not South Korea. And Seoul is not the No. 1 city where people are listening to BTS.

According to Koreaboo, YouTube which had recently released its streaming statistics for the year of 2018, showed that the top spot for countries with the most views was the US with over 552 million views.

Interestingly, there were quite a number of South American countries in the list.

Mexico was No. 5 with over 325 million views, with Brazil (7th), Peru (10th), Argentina (11th), Chile (15th), Colombia (21st) and Ecuador (25th) also making it to the Top 25 bracket.

While Japan came in at No. 4 and South Korea was No. 6, the Southeast Asian countries proved to be strong supporters of BTS as well.

No. 2 and No. 3 went to Vietnam and Indonesia respectively, while the Philippines came in at No. 8, Thailand at No. 9 and Malaysia took the 12th spot.

These SEA countries had all individually streamed the music videos of BTS for more than 100 million times to date.

Turkey (13th), Russia (17th), Germany (18th), the UK (19th) and France (20th) made up the European block.

When zooming in on the top cities where people were listening from, the Top 3 spots went to Jakarta, Bangkok and Ho Chi Minh City, in descending order.

Seoul was at No. 4 and Kuala Lumpur took the seventh spot.

BTS’ top songs that were streamed on YouTube last year were its 2018 hit singles, Fake Love and Idol.

Meanwhile, group member Jimin also set a new record on music and podcast streaming platform, SoundCloud, with his song, Promise, which garnered the most streams in the first 24 hours.

According to Allkpop, his self-produced solo track had reached 8.5 million streams on the first day of its release, last week.
