#Showbiz: Sight of wildlife roadkill breaks Maya Karin's heart

KUALA LUMPUR: Known for her love for nature and wildlife, popular actress Maya Karin lamented on the rising number of roadkills involving wildlife in Malaysia in recent times.

The 39-year-old award-winning artiste took to Twitter recently to share a photo of a dead tiger lying by the roadside along a highway at night.

She wrote: “Damn, you cannot imagine my sadness... this is just heartbreaking.”

Many Netizens who shared her sadness over the tiger’s death said that the authorities should take preventive measures such as building fences or create a “green bridge” that would link the forest on either side of the highway so that animals could still roam safely without the risk of getting hit by oncoming vehicles.

Last week, Maya was quoted in a news report discussing the seriousness issue of turtle-killing in Sabah, triggered by a high demand for its meat and shells.
