#Showbiz: I don't want to pretend anymore, says Fathia on going hijabless

KUALA LUMPUR: No longer wanting to live a life of pretence, controversial actress Nur Fathia Abdul Latiff has since removed her hijab.

She said that she never felt at ease since she started wearing the headscarf in 2016.

In fact, she added that the decision to wear the hijab in the first place was what led her into depression.

“This is my choice, why should other people become too concerned with what I do with my life? I don’t care if people out there start calling me mentally unstable.

“I just want to be true to myself, without having to pretend anymore. What’s the point of covering up when I’m not ready to change completely?” she said in a news report today.

The 31-year-old star of Ariana Rose said she had given a lot of thought before coming to the decision to remove the hijab.

Fathia admitted that she had gone out in public sans the headscarf since last Friday.

She also admitted that she had failed to maintain a good muslimah image all these while.

“I view this as my flaw and something that I should improve on at my own time and pace,” she said.

On Sunday, Fathia posted a photo of her brandishing a pixie cut, generating quite a buzz on social media. She has also deleted all her photos wearing the headscarf.
