#Showbiz: Generous donations see BTS' Jin joining the UNICEF 'Honours Club'

KUALA LUMPUR: BTS member Jin has apparently joined an exclusive list of Korean celebs via UNICEF’s (The United Nations Children's Fund) “Honours Club.”

According to Koreaboo, the hunky member of the K-Pop phenomenon, whose real name is Kim Seok-jin, has been donating an undisclosed amount of money every month since May 2018.

Only individuals who have donated more than 100 million KRW (about RM 351,000) in total to UNICEF are allowed to join.

Apparently, the 26-year-old singer-songwriter had decided to reveal his membership in the hopes of being a good influence to inspire other’s to donate as well.

His generous act of giving went unnoticed previously since he kept his contributions anonymous.

UNICEF Korea’s secretary general Lee Ki Chul thanked the idol for his meaningful donation.

He said: “I am very thankful to BTS’s Jin for his meaningful donation to help provide a message of hope to children around the world and of being an inspiration to others. We hope that this donation will serve as an opportunity to bring attention to many young people also participating in donating.”

Other Korean celeb who have joined the UNICEF Honours Club include figure skating legend Kim Yuna, actors Ahn Sung Ki and Won Bin, as well as various CEOs of companies.
