#Showbiz: Jin of BTS' 'Queen' moment ends up on Freddie Mercury's official Twitter

KUALA LUMPUR: Fresh off its weekend concerts in London, uber popular K-Pop outfit BTS made history as the first South Korean group to headline Wembley Stadium.

But during its two sold-out nights there, band member Jin made an impression by paying tribute to one of the UK’s top performers, Freddie Mercury, the late frontman from the legendary band Queen.

According to Koreaboo, the 26-year-old purple-haired idol imitated a crowd-pleasing moment in the stadium that Mercury had done during the English rock band’s iconic performance at the Live Aid concert back in 1985.

Apparently, the talented singer-songwriter, whose full name is Kim Seok Jin, had hyped up the enthusiastic audience by asking, “Hey Army, are you having fun tonight?”

After praising London for being the “home of great musicians”, he said that he had recently watched, Bohemian Rhapsody, the biographical movie about the life of Mercury and Queen.

He added: “I can’t help following this scene!’

The hunky idol then went on to imitate Mercury’s famous call and response segment where Mercury’s vocalisations were copied by the crowd.

Jin shouted “Eeee-o” and the fans immediately repeated the same vocalisation after him and this carried on for a few phrases.

Overwhelmed by the fans who energetically supported his effort, Jin said: “You’re so lovely, Army. I love you so much, Army!”

The moment, captured on video, made it to a post on Freddie Mercury’s official Twitter account (@MercuryMOTG), which read: “Great to see the legacy lives on… https://youtu.be/mlk6n3gI8EM @bts_bighit #BTS #BTSatWembley.”

Fans also reacted positively to the tribute with one commenting that, “We will always have Freddie. He is not forgotten, a true inspiration for new generations of artists from all over the world. #Jin honoured Freddie in that iconic way.”

BTS will be heading to France and Japan next to finish off the extended stadium leg of its Speak Yourself world tour, which began with dates in the US followed by Brazil.
