#Showbiz: '45 minutes later, he closed his eyes calmly' - Naz Rahman

KUALA LUMPUR: As actor Khir Rahman mourns the death of his legendary father, another celebrity Naz Rahman has also just lost his.

The 45-year-old host of TV3’s Jalan-Jalan Cari Makan whose real name is Nazrudin Habibur Rahman, bid farewell to his father Habibur Rahman Ibrahim, 73, last Wednesday.

Habibur Rahman succumbed to kidney cancer at 9.45pm at Gleneagles Hospital here, having suffered from the disease for two months.

Naz said his father had been suffering from a kidney ailment for three years and had to undergo dialysis treatment.

“He underwent surgery a month ago, which was a month after doctors diagnosed him with the Big C,” said Naz in a news report today.

“Despite having the deadly disease, my father chose to fight it till the end, and he was not one to give up.”

Recalling the last 45 minutes of his father’s life, Naz said that Habibur Rahman suffered breathing difficulties at his house around 9pm, and the family called an ambulance to take him to hospital.

“And 45 minutes later, we found him stiff and motionless on his bed, he closed his eyes calmly, and it was all over.”

Naz said he was still in a state of shock over his father’s death, as Habibur Rahman had been in great spirits during Hari Raya last week.

“The doctors told me he was on the mend during his last stay in hospital following surgery. In the weeks before Hari Raya, he showed a lot of improvement,” said Naz, who thanked friends and Netizens for their condolences.

Habibur Rahman was buried at the Jalan Ampang Muslim Cemetery after Zohor prayers yesterday.

Khir’s father, pop yeh yeh singer Datuk A. Rahman Hassan died at 73 yesterday.
