#Showbiz: 'No more spoiling the little ones' — Jac

KUALA LUMPUR: Realising that she might have been spoiling her two little children, singer Jaclyn Victor promises herself to be a better mother from now on.

In a recent posting she shared on Instagram with her fans and followers, the 40-year-old wrote: “...have been thinking about a lot of things specially how I’ve been a BAD Mama to them. I AM their mother. It was a choice I made to care for them myself without a helper cause I didn’t wanna miss out on anything. I am kiasu like that...I thought I was doing the best thing for them by doing everything for them. Feeding, bathing, brushing teeth, changing clothes, diapers blah blah blah where I should have been teaching them to be independent and do things on their own, experiment with stuff but no, I didn’t want a mess, I didn’t want them to do anything really.”

The winner of the inaugural Malaysian Idol sining competiton back in 2014 also admitted that she had exposed her children – Jonah Joshiah Rivera, 4, and Molly Marguerite Rivera, 2 – to TV and gadgets way too early as she had depended on those modern-day technologies to “babysit” her children.

“From now on, well from yesterday actually, the TV hasn’t been turned on and is not going to come on for them anymore. I have decided to right my wrongs, turn things around, go old school and do it like how our parents and their parents were raised,” wrote Jaclyn who is also known simply as Jac.

The singer said she was aware that this will take a lot of effort from her end and some time before it could actually work out but she prayed that she would be able to persevere on this new mission she had set herself up to.

Jaclyn is married to American R&B star Shawn Rivera and the couple tied the knot in 2014.
