#Showbiz: Malaysian fans Rockabye to the beat of Anne-Marie

KUALA LUMPUR: British pop singer Anne-Marie Nicholson had Malaysian fans singing along to her hits in an hour-long showcase tonight.

The showcase Anne-Marie Live In Kuala Lumpur was held at KL Live in Life Centre, Jalan Sultan Ismail at 9pm and saw her perform her chart-topping numbers as Rockabye, Ciao Adios, Friends and 2002.

“I’ve just had a wonderful performance in Jakarta, Indonesia and I’m delighted to be back in Malaysia for a second time. Five years ago I came for a mini showcase with my longtime collaborator Rudimental, and I promised to be back,” said Anne-Marie who performed 15 songs.

The 28-year-old artiste who is of Irish and British parentage hails from Essex and appeared in West End musical Les Miserables when she was six.

A black belt in karate, she is best known for her 2016 duet Rockabye with Clean Bandit and Sean Paul which reached No. 1 on the UK Singles Chart.

Her debut album Speak Your Mind was released in April last year, and reached No. 3 on the UK Albums Chart.

Among the awards she has won include the MTV Brand New Award 2016, the Best New International and Video of the Year at the MTV Video Music Awards Japan 2018 and Best Pop at the Global Awards 2019.

Opening her showcase were Malaysian singers Andi Bernadee, Amir Hassan, Bunga Isme and Layla Sania.
