#Showbiz: TV drama series based on 'BTS Universe' out next year

KUALA LUMPUR: Fans of international K-Pop outfit BTS will have another avenue to follow the various stories and adventures of their beloved music group.

According to Soompi, a new production of a TV drama series based on BTS Universe will be available for fans next year.

This was revealed by the group’s agency, Big Hit Entertainment, today during a presentation that saw the discussion of the company’s future business direction.

The event was attended by the agency’s co-CEOs Bang Shi hyuk and Yoon Seok Joon, as well as beNX President Seo Woo Seok.

It was announced that: “We are currently preparing a drama based on the BTS Universe with a famous Korean production studio. The goal is to launch it in the latter half of 2020.”

The drama is said to tell the story of seven boys who meet for the first time in the BTS Universe.

Since the live-action drama will take place during the time when the idols were younger, the actual members will not be starring in the production. A casting call for actors to play them will be carried out instead.

Aside from that, the event also saw Big Hit Entertainment announcing other plans to further expose BTS to both fans, or Army as the fandom is known, and the general public.

These consists of utilising various media and genres via webtoons, novels, games, animations and comic books.

It was also revealed that there were plans to incorporate storytelling for other artistes from other labels as well, although no further details were divulged.
