KUALA LUMPUR: She may be the leader of an international K-Pop girl group with a whole legion of fans but BlackPink’s Jennie was all weak in the knees during her recent first ever meeting with her idol, Rihanna.
According to Koreaboo, the 23-year-old YG Entertainment artiste met the sultry Barbadian superstar, 31, in Seoul at a Fenty Beauty event where she also held a talk on beauty.
Photos of the two celebrities together during an after-party that surfaced online certainly got fans just as excited at the meeting as Jennie herself.
In an interview with Elle Korea, Jennie named Rihanna when she was asked who her No. 1 girl crush was.
She apparently said: “My number one idol will always be Rihanna. She has everything I want to have.”
Interestingly, the multiple Grammy-winning artiste had a role in Jennie’s journey to become an idol.
During her first audition for YG Entertainment at the very start of her career she had performed Rihanna’s Take A Bow.
Jennie’s cover was apparently really impressive that she became one of the few people who were accepted that day out of thousands.
A previous idol she had met was Dua Lipa. After months of fangirling over the English singer-songwriter’s hit song, New Rules, Jennie and fellow BlackPink member Lisa had the opportunity to meet up at her concert in Seoul.
That fateful meeting later led to a collaboration for the song, Kiss and Make Up. Lipa even made a surprise guest appearance at BlackPink’s Newark concert in the US.
Although Jennie’s fans are happy for her first time meet with Rihanna, some are already speculating on a possible musical collaboration between the idol or BlackPink with the Caribbean Queen herself!
