#Showbiz: Shawn Mendes impresses with raw vocals at Axiata Arena

KUALA LUMPUR: Many hearts were broken when Shawn Mendes was revealed to be dating fellow artiste Camila Cabello recently. But at his full-house concert at Axiata Arena here last night, the Canadian singer-songwriter proved that he still received much love and support from his fans.

Alternating between the guitar and the piano, the handsome 21-year-old returned their love by belting out impressive raw vocals and flashing his megawatt smile.

Mendes performed around 20 songs, including Mercy, In My blood, Lost In Japan, There's Nothing Holding Me Back, Nervous, Stitches and Treat You Better.

A remix of Senorita, Mendes' global hit duet with Cabello, was also performed (sans Cabello), much to the fans' pleasure.

It was like a massive sing-along session as the 9,000-strong crowd sang along to every song he performed.

Mendes showcased unrelenting energy, and hardly took any breaks in between songs. Yet, his voice never faltered despite the many high-pitched notes he tackled.

The two-hour concert also featured a "centrepiece" in the form of a giant stalk of rose, which was hung from the ceiling of the large indoor stadium.

This is Mendes' third solo concert tour and it will continue in Indonesia, the Philippines and Japan, as well as Australia and Latin America.

Shawn Mendes The Tour Live In Kuala Lumpur was presented by PR Worldwide.
