KUALA LUMPUR: Actor and stuntman Hairul Azreen’s specific act of showcasing his 5-month old baby Alisa Aisyah may seem cute to many, but not to Malaysia’s first astronaut Datuk Dr Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor.
In a video clip the 31-year-old Paskal The Movie star posted on his Instagram yesterday, Hairul is seen holding baby Alisa up straight by only holding her feet.
The balancing act that went on for about 20 seconds has been viewed over 407,000 times so far with most of the comments centring on how cute the baby was.
According to news reports, Dr Sheikh Muszaphar, who is also an orthopaedic surgeon, was concerned about the well-being of the baby girl and gave the Polis Evo 2 actor some advice in the comments section.
He wrote: “Salam Hairul, what you’ve done is to have locked her knees in order for her to stand straight. This might cause her knee area to bend after this since it is too early for her (to attempt this position).”
“That is why babies will only be ready to stand by themselves once their muscles and bones are strong enough,” he added.
Apparently, the issue blew up when Netizens began talking about it on Twitter after it was alleged that Hairul had deleted the comment by Dr Sheikh Muszaphar in his post.
This was not the first time that the actor, who is married to actress Hanis Zalikha, has carried out that particular balancing act though. He has previously done it with his older son Yusuf Iskandar as well as with the child of comedian Achey.
A Netizen had apparently clarified the matter with Dr Sheikh Muszaphar by asking the doctor via his own Instagram account about his concerns and later shared his answer on Twitter.
Dr Sheikh Muszaphar said that he had previously left the comment on Hairul’s post because he did not want other people to copy the act with their own or other people’s babies.
Part of his response read: “Unnecessary pressure was focused on the knee area. It was just friendly advice so that the public will not think of copying his act.”
Hairul has over 4.1 million followers on his Instagram account.
