#Showbiz: Henry Golding named in TIME 100 Next list of rising stars

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia-born Hollywood star Henry Golding has earned a spot on TIME 100 Next list, putting him alongside other young movers and shakers such as singer Camila Cabello, Awkwafina and basketballer Zion Williamson.

Launched yesterday, this inaugural list expands upon the iconic TIME 100 list (first introduced in 2004) — that spotlights 100 rising stars who are shaping the future of business, entertainment, sports, politics, science, health and more.

On the list, together with the 32-year-old actor’s photo, there is a note by his Last Christmas co-star, fellow Malaysian who also made it big abroad, Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh.

It read: “The first time I met Henry Golding, I was so delighted that Jon M. Chu, the director of Crazy Rich Asians, had found me the ‘perfect son’.... I am proud of his push for Asian representation... I feel very fortunate to know such an incredible man who’s never lost sight of where he came from.”

Last night, Golding proudly shared this news on Instagram for his fans and followers, with the caption: “Honoured to be apart of @time Next 100 with some truly special people. Thanks momma @michelleyeoh_official for the quote.”
