#Showbiz: One Direction reunion will happen for sure, says Liam Payne

KUALA LUMPUR: Singer Liam Payne of One Direction believes that the popular quintet which rocketed him to fame will reunite "for sure".

Sky News reported yesterday that the 26-year-old artiste admitted that the band's members were not "massive mates", but at the same time, there was "no bad blood" between them.

“I think at some point we will get back together," he said.

“I think we will, for sure. I don't know when that is yet but all I know is there is at least two years while everyone's just released new music where you have to go and promo and do all of that," he added.

Payne also said that he had been keeping in contact with Louis Tomlinson "quite a lot" and that he had met Harry Styles recently performing at British radio station Capital FM's Jingle Bell Ball.

“I actually saw him for the first time in three years yesterday," he said.

“We hadn't seen each other in a long, long time. It was really nice, he's still the same boy as when I left him, really sweet," said Payne.

“I think people have a misconception that we were all just massive mates, that's just not the case.

“However, there's no bad blood between anyone."

One Direction, comprising Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Tomlinson and Payne, rose to fame after being put together on the 2010 series of the X Factor, and went on to become one of the most successful bands in the world.

Malik, 26, was first to leave the group, signing a solo contract, before the remaining members went on hiatus in 2016.

All five have had varying levels of success as solo artistes, and Payne's album, LP1, was released last Friday.
