#Showbiz: BTS' V fears taking commercial flights?

KUALA LUMPUR: K-Pop juggernaut BTS travels around the world for its successful string of concerts in style via chartered planes.

But according to Soompi, the reason for the sweet rides are not about showing people that the seven members of the music outfit have arrived as superstars.

Rather, they’re about security and distancing themselves from sasaengs, or overly obsessive fans who cross the line when it comes to severely invading the privacy of others.

During a recent live broadcast on Naver which featured BTS member V answering questions from fans, or Army as they’re known, the 23-year-old singer-songwriter, record producer and actor talked about sasaengs.

Apparently, the group has experienced some dreadful encounters with the pesky sasaengs during previous flights.

So although the members want to sit on regular planes they ironically don’t have the luxury of doing so.

“We travel separately on a chartered plane. We also want to take a (regular) plane, but when we have long-distance or short-distance flights, some people find out in advance (which plane) we are taking and sit in the seats in front of us or next to us,” said V.

The idol added: “In a place like that, we can’t rest comfortably. It’s very uncomfortable. Honestly, I would like for them to stop doing that.”

It’s certainly an unpleasant situation to be in for them, which is a security concern as well. V echoed this and said: “It’s scary. Yes, it’s very scary.”
