#Showbiz: 'I miss their smiling faces' — Sooyoung remembers Sulli and Goo Hara

KUALA LUMPUR: Sooyoung of popular K-Pop group Girls’ Generation recently shared a poignant message in welcoming the new year.

According to Koreaboo, the 29-year-old idol had taken to social media to remember her deceased friends Sulli and Goo Hara, as well as to share her hopes for 2020.

She wrote: "I miss the faces of my colleagues who I used to countdown with on the 31st of every year. Even if we only greeted each other with 'Happy New Year', I miss them. I miss the smiling faces I’d see despite being tired when we prepared for special performances together."

She added: "When I saw the scratches on their arms from the sequins they were wearing, I thought, 'That must hurt when they shower' and felt a sense of comradeship. On the year-end stages where we had to compete for more vibrant performances, longer stage times and shinier outfits, we ironically felt even closer."

Lamenting that some faces were becoming faint in her memory, Sooyoung said: "Some faces are still smiling. I’ve lost way too many colleagues. I hope we don’t lose any more in the new year…"

The Korean singer-songwriter and actress ended her message with: "I hope no one’s smiles get washed over by tears. I hope everyone is okay. Please don’t postpone greetings and best regards. You worked hard today and this year."
