KUALA LUMPUR: Veteran actress Datin Maria Arshad who was admitted to the ICU and reported to be in a semi-conscious state yesterday has begun smiling today.
Her daughter-in-law, radio announcer and actress Sharifah Shahirah or Shiera, took to IG today to share the good news.
"Maria Arshad is smiling guys. The most important thing is everyone's prayers. Praise be to God, thank you very much," she said.
Shiera added: "We need all of your prayers. Thank you to all who prayed. Keep praying and my family and I will also pray for all Malaysians to always be protected by God."
In a news report yesterday, Shiera requested for the public to pray for her 65-year-old mother-in-law who is also a 1980s era actress.
Maria, whose full name is Kamariah Arshad, was admitted to the ICU of a private medical center after vomitting and experiencing spasms due to a lack of salt.
Shiera revealed that her mother-in-law had complained of nerve pains in her back that progressed to her hand until it became weak and hard for her to lift up on Tuesday.
Maria's weight had also dropped by 48kgs after contracting Covid-19 about two years ago.
However, after being taken to a private medical centre for an examination, the doctor said that there was no chronic disease and only a lack of salt in the body.
Shiera shared that, in addition to seeing the doctor, they also took Maria to see an ustaz for traditional healing.
However, Shiera refused to comment on claims of whether her mother-in-law was suffering from a mysterious illness.
