#Showbiz: Gillian Chung suffers serious head injury in fall

KUALA LUMPUR: Hong Kong singer-actress Gillian Chung sustained a six-centimetre wound on her right forehead which required more than 10 stitches yesterday.

Entertainment portal AsiaOne reported yesterday that Chung's manager Mani Fok said in a Weibo post that she hit her head on a countertop in her bathroom around 2am.

The 39-year-old artiste was staying at a hotel in Xiamen, China, where she was involved in a new action film.

With the help of a colleague, she was sent to the hospital and underwent check-ups and a series of head scans.

"Gillian hurt her head in a fall in her hotel bathroom. She is currently resting at a specialist centre and her condition is stable," said Fok.

Chung, who is one-half of the Cantopop duo Twins with singer-actress Charlene Choi, reportedly insisted on returning to the film set as she did not want to delay the filming schedule. However, Fok advised her to rest in hospital.

Chung, whose best known films include The Twins Effect and 77 Heartbreaks separated from her husband of two years, Taiwanese gynaecologist Dr Michael Lai in March.
