#Showbiz: Dolla's song 'Impikan' created by K-Pop hitmakers

KUALA LUMPUR: Local pop group Dolla has been making a splash with its second single, Impikan, which began trending at No.2 on YouTube Malaysia after the premiere of its music video on popular online platform last Friday.

The song from the female quartet comprising of Sabrina or Sabronzo, Tabby, Angel and Syasya, had also trended on Twitter.

Apparently, the catchy track was composed by famous Swedish producers Ludwig Lindell, Daniel Caesar and Karl Oscar Gummesson who had previously provided hit songs for K-Pop groups such as Loona, Red Velvet, Girls' Generation, Exo-Cbx, Vixx, Boys Republic and Pentagon.

Although the Malay lyrics were penned by local artistes Luca Sickta and YonnyBoii, the English version of Impikan, titled Watch Me Glow, were written by the dynamic trio of hitmakers.

"We are definitely excited to have a song done by international producers and composers who have created K-Pop hits like the Girls' Generation tune, All Night.

"This opportunity kind of gives us the edge to present a musical concept with a more international flavour.

"We hope that this song will not just be positively received by listeners but that it will also create opportunities for us to make a name for ourselves overseas," said Sabronzo in a recent news report.

Previously, Dolla, which is signed to Universal Music Malaysia, had managed to garner attention from an international crowd after stories of the group being compared to international K-Pop sensation BlackPink surfaced online.

An article on the matter was also recently featured on the popular K-Pop news site Allkpop.

"It was surprising to be compared to BlackPink, since we feel that the concept we are presenting is very different.

"But we take it as something positive because BlackPink is a very big name in the international music industry," said Syasya.

Group member Angel said that the song Impikan was a catalyst for them to dream big in life.

"Don't complain and give up easily. With continuous effort, whatever is desired can be achieved one day," she said.

Dolla's music video for its first single, Make You Wanna, has so far accumulated over 2.4 million views on YouTube since its release in March.
