#Showbiz: Helicopter crash victim Mohd Irfan wanted to produce a flight film

KUALA LUMPUR: Actor and director Esma Daniel is affected by the death of Mohamad Irfan Fikri Mohd Rawi, 44, in yesterday's helicopter crash in Taman Melawati, Ampang.

The 51-year-old KL Special Force actor and director of Zaiton: Ceritaku took to social media to convey his condolences to the family and friends of Irfan.

Apparently, Esma had met Irfan in August to talk about plans to produce an aviation film.

The two were supposed to meet again last week but it did not happen due to the CMCO.

"In August, we met and discussed about coming out with a film on helicopters. Irfan was very excited and I was going to come up with a narrative for an aviation film.

"He had invited me to meet him last week but we had to postpone it due to the CMCO. The CMCO kind of delayed our efforts to carry out this project," he said in a news report yesterday.

In a Facebook post, Esma also shared a photo of them together taken during their meet-up in August.

The ill-fated crash, which was believed to have happened after two choppers grazed each other mid-air, also claimed the life of Mohamed Sabri Baharom, 56.

Former Malaysia Airlines Bhd chief executive officer Datuk Ahmad Jauhari Yahya and Tan Chai Eian, who were in the other helicopter, managed to manoeuvre an emergency landing at Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Tamil (SJKT) Taman Melawati close by.
