Post-mortem completed for victims of navy helicopter crash

IPOH: The post-mortem examination of the 10 victims of the helicopter crash at the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) base in Lumut yesterday, was completed at 2.20pm today.

In a statement, the RMN said the victims' families had been contacted through their respective units.

"The bodies of Muslim victims will be taken to the 23rd Battalion Regiment of the Royal Malay Regiment, Ipoh for funeral prayers.

"The body of the late Lieutenant T. Sivasutan will be taken home to the family residence in Sitiawan, Perak before burial tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the body of the late Chief Petty Officer Joanna Felicia,will be taken home to Serian, Sarawak on a C-130 aircraft belonging to the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF), the statement added.

"RMN has contacted the families of the victims through their respective units regarding this incident"

The navy said it will continue to provide support in terms of funeral management assistance and any needs from the families as best as possible.

"Final honors for all RMN heroes who have sacrificed will be carried out according to naval tradition at each agreed burial location by the families"
