KUALA LUMPUR: United States-based singer-songwriter Yuna is Malaysia's most popular singer in the Philippines today, at least on Spotify.
The 35-year-old international star has received an extraordinary number of streams from Filipino music lovers on Spotify, for her latest song Dance Like Nobody's Watching (DLNW).
Yuna, or Yunalis Mat Zara'ai described her achievement as sweet, and was surprised to learn that she had a strong following in the Philippines.
"I've just found out that my new single Dance Like Nobody's Watching has received top streaming in the Philippines. Mabuhay!" said Yuna in a news report today.
Last month, DLNW which was launched in December last year, received a million streams on Spotify, and 200,000 of them were from the Philippines.
"This song is based on my personal experience. I once was sad and chose to cheer myself up with a dance. Eventually, I began to love dancing, for it made me feel free," said Yuna.
Yuna's songs have received 49.9 streams on Spotify to date.
