#Showbiz: 'Omar & Hana' animation series draws Arab viewers

KUALA LUMPUR: Local children's animation series Omar & Hana has managed to garner an international audience with over 100,000 subscribers for its YouTube channel in the Arabic language, launched last July.

Its producer, Fadilah A Rahman said that the team had received very positive feedback from viewers in the Middle East and North African territories.

"We've been very well received by Arab viewers for our Omar & Hana animation series in the English language and saw that there was demand for the content in Arabic which provided for an alternative to animation fans from the Middle East and North Africa.

"Thank you for supporting Omar & Hana in the Arabic language. We hope to continue spreading good values to the whole world through animation content.

"Please continue to watch and don't forget to visit the official Omar & Hana channel on YouTube," she said in a news report yesterday.

Aside from the positive reception for content in the Arabic language, Digital Durian which produces Omar & Hana has also received requests to create instrumental musicals that reflect the culture of the Arab nations.

With close to 27 million views to date, the Arabic version of Omar & Hana is currently watched by children in over 50 countries including Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Iraq, Egypt and Algeria.

The Arabic version is the fourth language of the popular animated series that has been produced by Digital Durian aside from Malay, English and Bahasa Indonesia.

There are also future plans for Omar & Hana to be dubbed in Urdu.
