#Showbiz: Why so many Instafamous turned actors now, laments Izara

KUALA LUMPUR: Local Instafamous individuals or influencers on social media who have many followers online seem to be popping up in dramas, telemovies and films.

Actress Izara Aishah took to Twitter yesterday to lament this developing phenomena.

"A lot of Instafamous people becoming actors. TV no more budget because of Covid-19 is it?," she wrote.

In a subsequent tweet, the 29-year-old star of J Revolusi, Ombak Rindu The Series and Menyusur Erti Rindu said that things were really different back then.

She wrote: "Some of them are not even interested to act. My time, we had to go for auditions."

"Our passion is to really become an actor. We studied performing arts to get into the industry.

"The effort we put in is nothing like how it is now," she added.

Her entries received many likes and retweets with Netizens sympathising and agreeing with her opinion.

One wrote: "No need to introduce these people anymore, because they already have well-known names. What will be the deciding factor later is whether there's talent and how long they can last in this field."

Another said: "More followers = more viewers = high rating = attract advertisers = TV get money from ads and sponsors."

"In those days, people get to act due to their talent and knowledge. People now act because of their army of IG followers," commented another Netizen.
