#Showbiz: Siti's concert for Palestine to go on as planned

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza's March 9 concert, 'Konsert Sebuah Epitome: Saya Siti Nurhaliza' will not be postponed.

The concert's organiser, Yayasan Nurjiwa and founder, Siti's husband, Datuk Seri Khalid Mohd Jiwa, said in an Instagram post yesterday that postponing the concert would disrupt its objective of channelling humanitarian aid to the victims of Israeli aggression in Palestine.

Responding to Penang Mufti Datuk Seri Wan Salim Wan Mohd Noor's call to postpone the concert as a mark of respect to the month of Ramadan, Khalid said: "A postponement will jeopardise our efforts to help the Palestinians and will also impact many parties especially the National Stadium Corporation."

He added: "We cannot afford to delay funds, foodstuffs and basic necessities meant for the Palestinians."

Khalid also said that his foundation booked the Axiata Arena in Bukit Jalil for the concert early last year and the concert was not organised for profit.

"We chose to organise the concert solely on humanitarian grounds, and that has always been our objective since we began in 2006."
