#Showbiz: Maria Arshad recovers from Covid-19 after RM30k treatment

KUALA LUMPUR: Suria FM radio announcer and television host Sharifah Shahirah is happy that her mother-in-law, veteran actress Datin Maria Arshad has fully recovered from Covid-19.

Sharifah Shahirah, 45, said that Maria, 63, had just returned home and she had paid a visit to her mother-in-law's house.

"Thank God my mother-in-law Datin Maria Arshad is back home safe and sound. She was very ill with Covid-19 and underwent treatment at a private hospital for two weeks," said Sharifah Shahirah in a news report today.

Sharifah Shahirah added that Maria's medical bill was RM30,000, and some patients even paid RM70,000 for their treatment.

"Medicines are expensive there, but necessary to strengthen the internal organs which can be severely damaged by Covid-19. My husband and I were worried about her, but she recovered speedily."

Maria was tested positive for the coronavirus on Sept 25.

Sharifah Shahirah underwent self-quarantine for 10 days even though she was tested negative for the coronavirus.

Sharifah Shahirah is married to Maria's son, actor Ijoy Azhari. They have four children together. She also has a daughter from her previous marriage to Black Dog Bone vocalist Jatt.
