KUALA LUMPUR: Legendary Indian playback singer Lata Mangeshkar has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai last Saturday due to coronavirus infection.
The Indian Express reported that although the 92-year-old artiste who had lent her voice to hundreds of Bollywood actresses throughout her career, had only mild simptoms, she was put under close observation due to her advanced age.
"She will be under doctors' observation at the ICU," said Dr Pratit Samdani, the doctor treating Mangeshkar.
A family member also said that the doctors told them that it would be advisable to let them to continue treating and observing her condition at the unit.
"As family members, we also want the best for her and that she remains under close experts' supervision."
Mangeshkar who started singing since the age of 13, had recorded more than 30,000 songs, which also include other languages other than Hindi such as Tamil, Malayalam and Bengali.
