#Showbiz: Covid-19 pandemic makes me fear going out - Jamal Abdillah

KUALA LUMPUR: Pop king Datuk Jamal Abdillah has chosen to stay at home "as much as he can" no thanks to the raging Covid-19 pandemic that is far from over.

And this means, he would rather spend quality time indoors with his youngest of four children Nur Azura Yamani, 3 and El Isaac Yamani, one.

"It's true that I still have invitations to sing at events, but I am pretty selective because Covid-19 is still at large. I have become scared of going out, and only do so when it is really necessary," he said in a news report yesterday.

Jamal, 63, added that as a father, he was very protective of his youngest children, and wanted to make sure that they were safe from the coronavirus.

"I get worried whenever they go outdoors and I make sure they stay close to me. We only visit the shops and restaurants if there is a need to."

Jamal recently received the Nona Superhero Award (Entertainment) at the annual Nona Superwoman Awards held in One World Hotel, Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya.

The Nona Superwoman Awards has 23 categories for outstanding Malaysians of various professions.

"I've been in the music industry for 45 years and I am still loving it. I want to thank the organisers for this beautiful recognition," said Jamal who began his singing and acting career after winning Bintang RTM in 1979.
