#Showbiz: Sheila Majid welcomes first daughter-in-law

KUALA LUMPUR: Popular singer Datuk Sheila Majid became a mother-in-law for the first time after her son Megat Abdul Majid Aziz Roslan wedded Nik Nuralia Nik Fauzi at the Sime Darby Convention Centre in Bukit Kiara yesterday.

The Sinaran and Lagenda singer took to Instagram to announce the marriage of her only son with a simple post that read: "Praise be to God and thank goodness! It's official!"

A deluge of well wishes by fellow artistes and fans flooded the comments section of the entry, which was accompanied by a series of pictures and a video clip from the nikah ceremony.

Among the many who expressed their joy and compliments were Anuar Zain, Ning Baizura, Vanidah Imran, Datin Nina Juren and Datuk Ziela Jalil, as well as popular Indonesian singer Afgan.

According to news reports, the couple officially became husband and wife after one lafaz in the presence of the bride's father, Datuk Nik Fauzi.

The bride's side received seven trays of wedding gifts and reciprocated with nine, as well as a mas kahwin of RM80.

The solemnisation ceremony which took place at about 10am was conducted in a moderate fashion and attended only by close family members from both sides in adherence to the set SOP.

A simple reception was later held at the same venue in the evening.

Megat and Nik Nuralia were engaged on December 2020.

He is the second child of Sheila from her previous marriage to composer Roslan Aziz. Her eldest child with Roslan is Wan Nur Khaleda, who is also a singer.

Sheila also has two other daughters, Khadeja Zaireen and Khalefa Laila, from her current marriage to music arranger and director Datuk Hashridz Murshim Hassim, better known as Acis.
