#Showbiz: Billie Eilish to hold maiden live concert in KL on Aug 18

KUALA LUMPUR: Seven-time Grammy winner Billie Eilish will be performing for the first time in Malaysia at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium here on Aug 18.

The popular 20-year-old singer-songwriter's upcoming show is part of the Asian leg to her highly-anticipated Happier Than Ever, The World Tour which includes dates in Manila, Seoul, Singapore, Bangkok and Tokyo in August.

These will represent the indie electropop artiste's first live dates in Asia and the shows come off the back of her No.1, critically-acclaimed sophomore studio album, Happier Than Ever, released via Universal Music.

Eilish's tour dates in North America, the UK and Europe became record sold out affairs back in May of 2021.

Since the release of her debut single Ocean Eyes in 2015, the Los Angeles native continues to garner success after success with her genre-defying sound.

Her 2019 breakout album, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, debuted at No.1 on the Billboard 200 in the US, as well as 17 other countries globally and was the most streamed album of that year.

Both albums were written, produced and recorded entirely by Eilish and her brother Finneas.

In just four years, Eilish has become a worldwide sensation with her unique music having accumulated over 73 billion streams globally.

With Happier Than Ever, NME in their 5-star review wrote that it, "fully establishes Eilish as one of her generation's most significant pop artistes".

Rolling Stone called it "heroically honest", while DIY Mag noted that it's, "not just a triumph in progressing a signature sound into new territories but a lesson in how to own your reality with confidence and class."

Weaving razor-sharp wit, everyday observations, secrets and escapades, Happier Than Ever explores what it means to be a complex human being, navigating the modern world.
