#Showbiz: Sean Lee lends voice for Hollywood animation

KUALA LUMPUR: TV host-turned-actor Sean Lee has added another feather to his cap recently when he joins the voiceover cast for the upcoming film DC League Of Super-Pets.

Warner Bros. Malaysia in a statement today said that the 27-year-old artiste voices Waffles, a Boston Terrier living in Metropolis.

Lee who is known for his roles in the drama series The Hotel, Romantika 4 Hari 3 Malam and Jujurlah Nikahi Aku, said he was elated when the opportunity came a-knocking from the Hollywood studio.

He said, "I feel blessed that my childhood dream of voicing a character in an animated film came true and so honoured to represent Malaysia in a special edit of an international film!"

Although just a small part, Lee was so excited about this role that he created his own backstory for the character.

Lee who hails from Subang Jaya, envisioned Waffles to be a brutally honest dog from Subang Jaya too, whose owner moved to Metropolis as an expatriate.

Taking this backstory very seriously, Waffles has a rather strong Malaysian accent.

This is the first time Warner Bros. has selected a Malaysian cast member for such a localised part and audiences watching will undoubtedly appreciate the humorous local touch.

In DC League of Super-Pets, Krypto the Super-Dog and Superman are inseparable best friends, sharing the same superpowers and fighting crime in Metropolis side by side.

When Superman and the rest of the Justice League are kidnapped, Krypto must convince a rag-tag shelter pack — Ace the hound, PB the potbellied pig, Merton the turtle and Chip the squirrel — to master their own newfound powers and help him rescue the superheroes.

DC League of Super-Pets opens in cinemas here on July 28.
