#Showbiz: Three-generation rock concert to mark Merdeka month

KUALA LUMPUR: For the first time, three of Malaysia's top rock musicians from three different decades are sharing the brand new Zepp KL concert hall in Bukit Bintang, specially for a Merdeka month concert.

Rock legends from the 1990s, XPDC, popular 2000s band Spider and charismatic Sarawakian singer-songwriter Noh Salleh of Hujan are teaming up in Konsert 3 Generasi which is presented by YOLO Malaysia.

The two-hour concert which begins at 8pm on Aug 27 is part of YOLO's Live Sessions programme created specifically to help musicians get back on their feet after the Covid-19 pandemic.

YOLO Asia founder Ib Harun said that they had already organised five musical events over the last year, and after the pandemic phase began, they felt it was time for the country's most popular rockers to "give their all" for fans in a major live performance.

"XPDC, Spider and Noh are three of the country's biggest rock acts of the last three decades. They hope to give fans of all ages a once-in-a-lifetime experience which is relaxed and informal," he said at the launch of the concert in Rebung Restaurant, Bukit Aman today.

The event's executive producer Haniff Hamzah said: "All three acts will be given the freedom to showcase their best songs based on popular demand. Each of them has gained numerous awards and recognitions over the years and are considered legends in their own right."

YOLO creative producer Hamka Mohd Taufik said that the combination of XPDC, Spider and Noh with their different approaches to rock music would definitely provide an "out of this world" experience to music lovers.

"Best of all, Zepp KL has high-quality equipment for a great musical experience."

Tickets are priced at RM288, RM318, RM328, RM378 (Meet And Greet) and RRM6,288 (VIP Private Box).
