KUALA LUMPUR: Actress Sharifah Amani tied the knot with Ahmed Faris Amir on Saturday at 10am.
The solemnisation ceremony of the 36-year-old artiste, whose full name is Sharifah Amani Syed Zainal Rashid, and the 34-year-old CEO of Impact Integrated took place at the Saidina Umar Al Khattab Mosque in Bukit Damansara, here.
Attended by 200 guests, the couple was solemnised by the mosque's head Imam and marriage assistant registrar for the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department (Jawi), Ustaz Mohd Rahimi P Ramlee, in the presence of Amani's father, Syed Zainal Rashid Syed Zainal Abidin.
The bride received a mas kahwin of RM300 and five hantaran trays from the groom's side, which was reciprocated with seven trays. However, the amount of the hantaran in cash was not disclosed.
"Praise be to God, despite the trials of the Covid-19 pandemic which afflicted the world for the past two years, my dream, intention and wish that I have been carrying in me all this while has been made easy.
"Even though everything happened very quickly, I believe that there was a hidden blessing to it all that brought us both together as a lawfully wedded husband and wife.
"Hopefully, this new phase will be a continually maturing experience for both of us, God-willing," she said in a Harian Metro report.
Amani added they first met three years ago while serving as a member of the board of trustees in an organisation headed by Ahmed Faris.
"We worked on a professional basis three years ago. There were no feelings of love then.
"To cut a long story short, after the Covid-19 pandemic, we were both going solo.
"Love then happened unexpectedly until eventually, we discovered that we were meant for each other.
"He was swift and capable in his moves, and very smart in capturing my heart.
"At the same time, he always made me laugh and easily entertained me.
"What made us really compatible was that he is among my best easy-going, hangout friends," she said.
On their honeymoon plans, Amani explained that they had none yet due to their current work commitments.
"We want to complete the process of moving house after getting married first.
"After that, we both are pretty busy with our packed work schedules. Maybe after we're done with work and my husband has leave, we can start to think spontaneous about plans to spend time together.
"If anything, most probably at the end of the year," she said.
Among the celebrities who attended the wedding ceremony were Vanidah Imran, Bront Palarae, Iedil Dzuhrie Alaudin, Nadia Aqilah, Nadiya Nisaa, Sherry Alhadad and Sangeeta Krishnasamy.
Amani and Ahmed Faris had previously gotten engaged in June.
