#Showbiz: Padi Reborn to stage KL concert in December, Sheila Majid as guest performer

KUALA LUMPUR: Indonesian pop rock band Padi Reborn is thrilled to have legendary singer Datuk Sheila Majid to perform at their concert here in December.

At a virtual press conference today, the band consisted of Ari Tri Sosianto (guitar), Andi Fadly Arifuddin (vocal), Surendro Prasetyo a.k.a. Yoyo (drums), Rindra Risyanto Noor (bass), and Satriyo Yudi Wahono a.k.a. Piyu (guitar) revealed that Sheila, 57, who is well-known in Indonesia will be performing for the first time together with them at a concert dubbed Padi Reborn 25 Years: Live In Kuala Lumpur.

Slated to take place at Zepp KL, this will be the band's first performance here since their last concert at KL's Life Centre in 2018.

"We will be singing her hit songs and together with us, Sheila will be singing our songs at the concert too," said Piyu.

He added that the band first collaborated with Sheila at a recording for an Indonesian TV station in Jakarta in 2005, performing her hit song Antara Anyer Dan Jakarta.

As for the songs (with Sheila) at the upcoming concert, Piyu refused to reveal further.

Meanwhile, a statement from the singer dubbed Malaysian Jazz Queen read: "I'm honoured to have been invited as a guest performer by Padi Reborn and Qew Communications to join in the 25th anniversary concert of the band.

"We have never performed at any concert together, but once shared the same stage in Yogyakarta at a New Year's eve concert to usher in 2018.

"As for the songs, just wait and see," she said in the statement.

Datin Rahizahwati Yahya of Qew Communications said concert tickets have started selling since last month, with more than half have been snapped up.
