#Showbiz: Liza Hanim to stage her first solo concert

SHE'S undoubtedly a formidable force in the music scene.

Having recorded seven studio albums throughout her 27-year journey as a singer, one would wonder why Liza Hanim has yet to stage a solo concert.

Her answer? Maybe it was just meant to be.

While there are some new singers who have had solo concerts much earlier in their singing careers, Liza, 44, admits that they have been very fortunate.

"I'm happy for them. It's good to see how some of them have managed to pave their way to success earlier on.

"I admit, as a singer, to be staging your own solo concert is one of the ultimate dreams, which can give you a certain satisfaction as a performer or entertainer," says Liza, whose full name is Haliza Hanim Abdul Halim.

But dreams do come true and this Sunday will see her performing at her very own 'Liza Hanim 27 Years Journey In Concert' at Zepp Kuala Lumpur.

Co-organised by LH Media Sdn Bhd and Laugh Out Loud Entertainment, the concert is set to feature the most popular tracks from her seven studio albums.

"Of course, I'm very excited to be staging this concert, after being a singer close to three decades.

"What's even more thrilling is that, apart from performing my popular hits, I'll also be singing my new single titled 'Mengertilah', composed by Ajai," she elaborates.

The mother of five adds that this will also be an important moment for her to meet fans, especially those who have been supporting her throughout the years.

Genuine appreciation

"This concert will also be an intimate gathering with fans, from those who had been around since my early days to the newer ones, especially younger fans who know me from 'Gegar Vaganza' (she was the first runner-up of GV4 in 2017 and a finalist for last year's 'All Stars Gegar Vaganza'

finale concert).

"I dedicate this moment, in a show of my appreciation, to my supporters," she adds.

Liza is also grateful for the support she received from the Communications Ministry's Digital Creative Fund via MyCreative Ventures Sdn Bhd.

Liza began her journey as a singer at 17, after emerging as first runner-up in RTM's 'Golden Teen Search' singing contest in 1996.

She was later named champion in 'Bintang Penghibur RTM' in 1999.

Other accolades followed, including winning the Silver Cup Award at Shanghai Music Festival in China (2000), being named best vocalist at the 17th Anugerah Juara Lagu (2003) and the Best Duo/Collaboration Vocal Performance In A Song at the 23rd Anugerah Industri Muzik (2022).

Liza recorded her first debut studio album, 'Epilog', in 1997.

This was followed by Di Mana Kan Ku Cari Ganti (1998), Puteri Jelmaan (1999), Istimewa (2000), Isyarat Jiwa (2001), Ku Teruskan (2003), and Imagin (2007).
