#Showbiz: No news is good news, says Noor of sister Anita Sarawak's isolation

BANGI: Veteran actress and singer Noor Kumalasari is still not in contact with her elder sister and veteran entertainer Anita Sarawak whom she has not seen for a very long time.

"Nope, no updates. No news is good news," she said when met during a forum titled Antara Cantik dan Bakat: Di Manakah Magis Pengukuh Kredibiliti? at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), here today.

The forum, which served as a lead-up event to the upcoming 32nd Malaysia Film Festival (FFM), was organised by Persatuan Wartawan dan Penulis Hiburan Malaysia (Wham), in cooperation with the National Film Development Corporation (Finas) and UKM's Centre for Research in Media and Communication (Mention).

The 66-year-old star of classic Malay movies such as Menanti Hari Esok and Bayangan Maut joked that, "She doesn't contact me because she knows that I'm close to paparazzi."

"I like it also since I don't have to lie and feel guilty (about keeping secrets)," she said.

Noor added that Anita, who is currently residing in Las Vegas, USA, would usually contact her elder sister via telephone during the Raya period to catch up.

"Kak Nita usually calls during Raya and everybody would gather at my elder sister's house so we can talk to her together on the telephone.

"But the last time, she just called my sister and kirim salam to everyone else," she said.

Noor dispels long-running rumours that Anita, 70, is sick and divorced from her English husband, Mahathir Abdullah.

"From what I've heard, my sister spoke to Mahathir and Kak Nita, and they're both doing fine.

"She still wants to live a normal life, like normal people. (All the rumours) I just brush it off," she said.

Noor added: "If Kak Nita was not well or if there was anything wrong, they would call my sister to let us know."
