#Showbiz: 'Acting can be glamorous, but it's a tough job'

KUALA LUMPUR: Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil, who once starred in the drama series Gol & Gincu, said that acting was a "tough job" even though it appeared glamorous.

"Starring in that drama series, and theatre plays, showed me how difficult it is to become a successful actor," said Fahmi in an interview with Harian Metro Online recently.

"My advice to all aspiring actors and actresses is, work hard for it. The life of an artiste may appear glamorous but it is a real tough job."

Fahmi, who became acquainted with several directors, producers, actors and actresses, became the political secretary of the then Lembah Pantai Member of Parliament Nurul Izzah Anwar in 2010 while he was still an actor.

In the 14th general election in 2018, he was named Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) candidate for Lembah Pantai and elected Member of Parliament. He successfully defended his seat in 2022.

Fahmi said that his mother, who served in the Information Ministry from 1987 to 1988, had acted in Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) dramas in the 1980s.

"My mother was in the planning department of the ministry, and brought me to her workplace when I was a kid."
