KUALA LUMPUR: South Korean actor Song Joong Ki is said to have met his new wife, Katy Louise Saunders, on the set of the 2021 Netflix series Vincenzo.
According to Dispatch, the 37-year-old Korean star grew close to the British actress after she started teaching him Italian during the filming of the crime drama in 2021.
Love blossomed from then on and the couple was said to have continued dating and even moved in together in Seoul, South Korea during the first half of last year.
On Monday, Song announced his marriage to Saunders on his official fan café and also revealed the good news that his wife was pregnant with their first child.
In the post, he wrote: "I have promised to continue my life together with Katy Louise Saunders, who has been by my side supporting me and someone I have spent valuable time with as we cherish each other."
He added: "Naturally, we dreamed of creating a happy family together. We have put in a lot of effort to hold each other's promises to truth, and we are sincerely thankful as a new life has entered our lives."
Saunders' family was reported to have flown to South Korea to be with the 38-year-old artiste during her pregnancy and marriage.
Soompi reported that a source close to Song's agency, High Zium Studio, claimed that a wedding ceremony is currently being planned.
However, the date and location for the joyful event have yet to be decided.
In Vincenzo, Song plays a Korean-Italian mafia lawyer who attempts to reclaim a building that has a secret stash of 1.5 tonnes of gold.
