#Showbiz: Emulate Michelle Yeoh for a successful career, says Bront Palarae

KUALA LUMPUR: Popular actor Bront Palarae has advised aspiring actors and actresses to follow the footsteps of international superstar Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh if they wanted to become successful.

Bront, the star of Dain Said's latest film Harum Malam, said that Yeoh's bold move to "conquer" Hong Kong cinema and Hollywood ought to inspire young actors and actresses to aim high in life.

"We should all be proud of Michelle and her achievements. She has put us on the entertainment map. To all aspiring film stars, I advise you to take on Hollywood as she did," said Bront in an interview with Berita Harian Online yesterday.

Bront added that Malaysians who aimed high in life would achieve greater success than those who chose to stay within their comfort zones. Therefore it would be better to try one's luck in Hollywood than to remain in the local film industry.

Yeoh, 61, who hails from Ipoh, is in the running for Best Actress in the coming Academy Awards for her role as Evelyn Wang in the comedy-drama Everything Everywhere All At Once.

Bront, 44, who has starred in films in Indonesia and the Philippines, said that Malaysia was not short of talent, but at the moment there was a lack of opportunities for such talent to shine.
