#Showbiz: Mat London in critical condition, vital organs not functioning

KUALA LUMPUR: The family of Film Directors' Association of Malaysia (FDAM) president Ahmad Ibrahim, better known as Mat London, are "preparing for the worst" as he is in critical condition.

Salmany Akir Ahmad, 42, who is the fourth child of the 74-year-old veteran director,, said his father was totally dependent on a ventilator and was in the intensive care unit (ICU) of Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL).

"The doctors told us that his vital organs are not functioning and his heart is not strong. He has not been able to speak for the last two days," said Salmany in an interview with Berita Harian Online today.

Salmany, who visited his father yesterday, also said the latter could only nod his head gently.

"Today marks his 14th day in hospital. He has not shown any signs of improvement as far as breathing is concerned and his kidneys and lungs are in poor shape."

Mat London, who most recently played Pak Karim in the comedy series Kampong Pisang Bersiri-Siri directed by the late Mamat Khalid, has been hospitalised with a lung infection since June 16. He has also been placed in an induced coma.
