#Showbiz: Entertainment journalist Fiza Kamarudin dies in London

KUALA LUMPUR: Entertainment journalist Siti Nor Haffiza Kamarudin, better known as Fiza Kamarudin, who was in a critical condition in Charing Cross Hospital, London passed away at age 40 last night.

According to her sister, Siti Norhazlinda Kamarudin, 39, Fiza died at about 11.30pm (Malaysian time).

She added that Fiza's husband, Mohd Roshdi Ramli, was currently discussing with the Malaysian High Commission in London to bring her body back home.

"Matters on bringing her body back are still in discussion which includes the cost involved. Her husband is in contact with people over there on this.

"Thank you to everyone who helped out including those who contributed donations to her family," she said.

It was reported that she was rushed to the hospital after losing consciousness at Heathrow Airport on Wednesday.

At the time, Fiza was waiting to catch a flight back to Malaysia after a vacation with her family.

"Previously, we as a family had advised her to think it through before going on the trip. But she was adamant after promising to take her kids on a holiday.

"She just wanted to make them happy. In fact, it was her last wish to be with her husband and children," said Siti Norhazlinda.

It is believed that Fiza died due to bleeding in the head.

She had also been battling a recurrence of breast cancer, which reemerged after six years of being in remission.

The cancer had apparently spread to the back of her skull.

The journalist, associated with the portals Boom Malaysia and Jurnal Malaysia owned by KRU Media, was selected to receive a sponsored travel package with her family to London and departed with her husband and their two children in the middle of this month.
