#Showbiz: Seventeen first K-pop group to hold full session at Unesco Youth Forum

KUALA LUMPUR: Popular K-pop group Seventeen will make a special appearance at the upcoming United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco) Youth Forum in Paris, France.

According to South Korean news agency Yonhap, the South Korean music outfit's agency Pledis Entertainment recently announced that Seventeen would hold its own session at the global event.

It said: "Seventeen will address the 13th Unesco Youth Forum at the Unesco Headquarters in Paris, France on Nov 14 at 7pm (Paris time)."

The 13-member K-pop act is expected to give a speech and perform during a special session for about an hour.

Seventeen is the first K-pop act to be given a full session at such a high-profile Unesco event.

The Unesco Youth Forum is held every two years alongside the Unesco General Conference.

It serves as a platform for youth representatives from around the world to share ideas and experiences about the challenges facing the younger generation, as well as to explore solutions.

Soompi reported that Seventeen's speech will convey a message of how education and solidarity between young people can change the future of not only youth but also the entire planet.

The Korean Times described Seventeen, formed in 2015, as a group that has "conveyed a positive message through its songs that young people should not give up and fight together to overcome challenges, instead of being pessimistic and frustrated."
