#Showbiz: Hattan to retire from active performing in June

KUALA LUMPUR: Rock singer and actor Datuk Hattan, 60, will be calling it a day as a recording artiste next June.

Hattan said in an interview with Harian Metro Online yesterday that he had long planned to retire after turning 60 and this year was "the right time."

"All good things must come to an end likewise my singing career. I have achieved what I set out to do and the right time to call it a day in music is in the middle of this year," he said, adding that he wanted to have one last concert with his idol and mentor Datuk M. Nasir.

"That won't be my last concert, there will be one more in June. After that it's over, but I will still sing as a guest artiste from time to time," said Hattan.

"As a veteran artiste I feel it is time to pass the baton to my talented and hardworking juniors in music."

Hattan plans to focus on his business venture which he set up with friends a few years ago.

He and Nasir will be entertaining fans in the two-hour Konsert Sifu Dan Aku at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) in Kota Kinabalu on Saturday.
