KUALA LUMPUR: Veteran rock singer Datuk Hattan's younger brother Mohd Hatta Shahabudin died at the age of 46 in his hometown Seri Menanti, Kuala Pilah, Negri Sembilan yesterday.
Hattan or Mohd Shukri Shahabudin said in an interview with Harian Metro today that Mohd Hatta's death came as a shock to him, because his younger brother appeared hale and hearty when they met more than a month ago.
"Last year he planted flowers on our late mother's grave, but this year, he has been laid to rest beside her," said Hattan.
Hattan also expressed regret that he was unable to meet his brother for the last time, as he had just returned to the federal capital the previous day.
"Mohd Hatta had a heart condition, but it was under control and he didn't appear unhealthy," said Hattan, adding that they had always been close as brothers.
Hattan revealed that Mohd Hatta who died around 3.50pm was a successful accountant who also helped him with his finances.
Mohd Hatta was buried at the Seri Menanti Islamic Cemetery after Zohor prayers yesterday.
