#Showbiz: Heartfelt goodbye: Senario's Hamdan succumbs to health issues at 54

KUALA LUMPUR: The local comedy industry today mourns the loss of Hamdan Ramli, a 54-year-old member of the renowned comedy group Scenario.

He died at the Hospital Sultanah Aminah (HSA) in Johor Baru, Johor, around 12.50pm.

His friend, Azlee Jaafar, confirmed the sad news, marking the end of a chapter in the comedy scene with Hamdan Ramli's departure.

According to a news report today, Azlee said Hamdan's remains would be transported to Ipoh, Perak this afternoon.

"Allahyarham breathed his last at 12.50pm. His condition had deteriorated for the past two days after his heart was working at only 20 per cent capacity, and the medical ventilator was not able to support him anymore.

"I have already arranged for a `van jenazah (hearse)' to take Hamdan to his home in Ipoh.

"We expect the body to reach (Ipoh) at around 8pm, but we're not sure when the burial will be carried out.

"We have to ask his family first," said Azlee in the news report.

Hamdan was put in an induced coma at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at HSA on Sunday due to a bacterial infection after experiencing diarrhoea and breathing difficulties.

Hamdan was scheduled to participate in the Wonderful Night with Senario union event at a hotel in Johor Bahru last Sunday.

The show was organised in conjunction with Senario's 27th anniversary.

However, Hamdan could not attend the event after feeling ill and collapsing, which led to him being rushed to HSA.

Hamdan is survived by his wife, Norhamalini Ahmed, 53, and four children.
